Galileo was a very smart and important man in the 1600's. He was a great astronemer and proved many of Aristoles theories wrong. The first one he proved wrong is that everything in the universe is perfect. He found craters and mountains on the moon to prove that the moon is not a perfect sphere. Then with his telescope he found 4 objects orbiting Jupiter, that proved that not everything in the universe revolves around us, the earth. Another way he proved Aristole wrong is that Aristole believed 2 objects of the same volume and different weight fall at different speeds, he thought the heavier one would fall more quickly. Then he proved by walking to the top of the leaning tower of pisa and droped them at the same time, the fell to the ground at the exact same time.
Moon Observations: The moon has craters
These are some photos of the moon that show the creaters on the moon. Aristotle believed that the moon was perfect,
but Galileo proved him wrong by finding mountains and craters on the moon.
Jupiter and it's moons
Aristotle thought everything revolved around the earth. Galileo proved him wrong by finding four moons that orbit Jupiter.
It also proved that we are not shut in by cristal shells, which disproved Aristotle's theory of the universe.
Saturn and its rings
Aristole thought all the planets were perfect spheres. Galileo proved him wrong by finding rings around saturn.
Sun Spots
Sun spots proved that the sun is not perfect.
Venus and its phases
Arisotle thought that the earth was the center of the universe, and that everything revolved around it.
Galilieo proved him wrong by finding out that venus has phases which would not be possible it the earth
was in the center of the solar system. The sun must be in the center of our solar system, but not the
